Our Opportunity

As we continue to grow, our company is currently accepting Senior Surveyor. As a Senior Surveyor with Lawson, you will be responsible for planning and conducting a broad range of field surveys for the installation of transmission line towers and components including, pile and foundation layout, topographic and as-built survey, and quality control and quality assurance surveys. Responsibilities include preparing field data, accurately recording measurements and other data, preparing field notes, carrying out quality control for survey work, and compiling and computing survey data for submission to the client.

Our Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in Geomatics, Survey or Municipal Technology from an institute of recognized standing (equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered on an individual basis). Eligibility for registration as a Technologist is an asset.
  • Minimum seven (7) years directly related experience of which three years must be in the lead role of a survey field crew.
  • Comprehensive understanding of theory, limitations and use of robotic total stations, electronic field books, precision verticality and leveling instruments, GNSS GPS (Global Positioning Systems) equipment, and other surveying equipment that may be used.
  • Proficient ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, clients and other contractors.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, standards and construction methods.
  • Experience with Trimble survey instrumentation and software is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of identifying and interpreting survey control monuments.
  • Advanced knowledge of survey computations including adjustment computations and the derivation of coordinates in various coordinate systems.
  • Working knowledge of contract administration including the application for payment and certification of work process is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of personal computers including the use of COGO, GPS software applications and AutoCAD, including drafting principals and standards.
  • Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, with a willingness to work in remote sites in adverse weather conditions, for extended periods of time.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.
